To all youth football coaches and parents of young players:
As parents and coaches of young athletes we sincerely believe in this format and think young players are missing the boat if they are not playing winter football. The time commitment is limited allowing players to continue to participate with their traditional winter sports teams & leagues, like basketball and wrestling. In fact, the majority of our winter football players do participate in the traditional winter sports. Our games are played at an indoor facility conveniently located at The Sports Zone in Trumbull, CT. Games last 1 hour (plenty of time in this format) and most teams practice once per week for 60-90 minutes in their local area. Practice time is still available at The Sports Zone – Please call 203-268-1214 to reserve your time before it is to late! Games consist of two 25-minute running time halves with a 3-minute half time. A six-minute warm-up will be allowed on the field at the beginning of each game. We encourage stretching completely off field prior to taking the field to help avoid potential injuries. Please exit the field promptly upon completion of the game to grant the next team a full warm-up session.
On the outdoor regulation size field, the league plays a seven on seven format and all offensive players will be eligible receivers.
The Sports Zone schedules games, referees, keeps standings and posts results. If interested, please call to be on our mailing list for future sessions.
Roster – A maximum of 16 players may be listed on a team’s roster, which is due prior to the start of the first game. If an opposing team identifies a player who is not on the roster that player will be banned from the league and that team will forfeit 6-0.
Players may not play for two teams in the same division.
Uniform Color -Team jerseys must be the same color. Numbered jerseys are preferred but not required. Goalkeeper jerseys must be unique from both teams’ jerseys.
The Sports Zone will host flag football events at different times during the year. Please contact us if you are interested in being on our mailing list for future sessions.
Adult players must be 18 or older. High school players are not permitted to play in the adult league.
